If you’re like many people, you’re looking for great places to donate holiday items, toys, gift cards and cash this holiday season – and we’ve rounded up some of Naples’ most noteworthy causes, charities and organizations so you can find the right organization.

Giving Back for the Holidays: 10 Great Places to Donate in Naples

Aside from the United States Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots program, which is a staple in many communities across the U.S., there are dozens of great organizations, toy drives and donation opportunities all over Naples. Here are ten that could really use your help this holiday season:

  1. One Simple Wish
  2. Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Suncoast
  3. Collier County Hunger and Homeless Coalition
  4. David Lawrence Center
  5. The Greater Naples YMCA
  6. Meals of Hope
  7. PACE Center for Girls at Immokalee
  8. Adopt-a-Family Collier County
  9. Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program
  10. Harry Chapin Food Bank

Here’s a closer look at each.

One Simple Wish

One Simple Wish reaches out to foster children all over the country who have big wishes that you can help fulfill. You can browse wishes from kids who want items from small stuffed animals they can take with them on their journeys and laundry baskets to sort their clothing to water bottles, personal game consoles and other items. Simply click “Grant This Wish” and you can make a tremendous difference in a foster child’s life.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Suncoast

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Suncoast is accepting financial donations that help kids all over Naples and the surrounding communities. In addition to pairing children with adults who care about them, the organization provides opportunities for kids to play sports, learn to read and even get special help with educational services.

Collier County Hunger and Homeless Coalition

The Collier County Hunger and Homeless Coalition is running a special holiday drive that seeks financial donations to help seniors – many of whom are facing homelessness for the first time this holiday season. The organization also accepts financial donations for its food pantries and other services, as well.

David Lawrence Center

The David Lawrence Center for Behavioral Health has a holiday wish list filled with gifts that go to children and adult children who are in both inpatient and outpatient programs. The gifts range from art supplies to journals and other small items. You can also make a financial donation.

The Greater Naples YMCA

The Greater Naples YMCA is accepting donations and is kicking off a special holiday drive on Giving Tuesday, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (December 3). Your donations go toward providing kids a safe place to play sports, hang out with friends who are good influences and support programs that keep kids out of trouble. They’re also running the Giving Tree program, which provides holiday gifts to families across the area; you can donate money online or at the YMCA’s main desk.

Meals of Hope

The Meals of Hope Holidays Without Hunger program, its annual event, packed more than 506,000 meals last year – and they aim to do the same this year with generous donations from Naples community members. In addition to making a financial donation, you can volunteer to pack meals for families in need.

PACE Center for Girls at Immokalee

The PACE Center for Girls Collier at Immokalee is accepting financial donations and volunteer help this holiday season. The center’s mission is to provide girls and young women with opportunities for a better future through education, counseling, training and advocacy.

Adopt-a-Family Collier County

Run by Legal Aid Services of Collier County, the holiday Adopt-a-Family program matches underprivileged families with minor children with benefactors who can provide toys, clothing, gifts and food. After you register as a donor, you’ll be paired with a family based on your preferences (such as family size); there’s no minimum or maximum spending limit – you can give what you’d like.

Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program

The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program puts gifts (including toys and clothing) under the trees of needy children all over Naples (as well as the rest of the country). Anonymous donors “adopt” a child and provide gifts. Most donors register before the end of November, so there’s still time for you to make a difference through this program.

Harry Chapin Food Bank

The Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida is the largest hunger-relief network in the area, and it’s accepting financial donations, food donations and volunteers throughout the holiday season. This year, when a greater-than-usual need is anticipated, it expects to serve about 32 percent children and the remaining adults.
