Port Royal History

Port Royal was mainly developed during the late 1940s and early 1950s. As the namesake of a 17th-century Jamaican port city, which was known for its stunning opulence and almost-unbelievable displays of wealth, this community is now home to some of Naples’ most prestigious addresses. The street names in the community – such as Spyglass Lane, Man of War Cove, Galleon Drive and Green Dolphin Lane harken back to days of yore, when rough-and-tumble pirates used the area as safe harbor.

The Port Royal Club

The Port Royal Club, established in 1959, is open only to residents living in eligible homes. The club offers several amenities, including dining and entertainment, the capability of accommodating up to 400 guests for special events and a number of health and recreation experiences, such as:

  • A residents-only beach
  • Heated beachside pool
  • Cutting-edge exercise facilities featuring group classes and on-site certified personal trainers
  • Physical therapy
  • Spa treatments
  • Tennis facilities with lessons and tournament play for all ages and experience levels

Membership in the Port Royal Club

The Port Royal Club is open to only select residents – those who live on property located south of Palmer Estates and 21st Avenue South (not including the Aqualane Shores properties on 21st Avenue). Residents must opt-in for membership within 90 days of purchasing a home or reserve the property’s eligibility by paying 25 percent of the initiation fee within that time, plus 25 percent of annual dues each year.
