Collier Habitat for Humanity Raises Over $4 Million for Homeownership

Home prices in Naples have continued an upward trajectory for months, which is good news for residents who have found “forever” homes and second homes in our city, as well as investors who sought to enhance their bottom lines. But for some residents within Collier County, homeownership has been an elusive goal due to prohibitive prices.

To help make the dreams of homeownership for such families come true, the Collier Habitat for Humanity is on a mission to build affordable homes for families in need.

During its 13th annual Give to the Max initiative, which concluded in early February, the organization matched $2 million in donations for a total of more than $4 million to be used for the construction of more affordable residences in the county.

In an interview with Fox4 Now, Jennifer Pash, Habitat Collier’s Chief Development Officer, said affordable housing in the county is a major issue for many residents.

“It is one of the most significant needs in the community.” She explained that the organization helps about 80 to 100 families become homeowners each year.

Pash sees the work of Habitat Collier as not only a benefit for county residents but a boon for the county itself, saying that the new homeowners “become taxpaying entities in this community.” She explained that these residents become more grounded within the community, being more likely to work there and ultimately strengthen its labor force.

Collier Habitat for Humanity devotes 95 cents of each dollar it raises to fulfilling its mission to build homes and opportunity for local families in need.
