4 Key Questions to Ask a Real Estate Agent As You Work With Them

 

If you’re in the market to buy a home in Naples, or to sell one, the process can be complex and full of twists and turns. So, after you’ve hired a real estate agent, you’ll likely have lots of questions. Consider these four key questions to ask your real estate agent once you’ve hired them.

 

Question for Your Agent #1. What are comparable homes in the area?


If you’re in the market to purchase a home, and you’ve found a property you love, you should ask your agent to provide a comparative market analysis (CMA). A CMA examines properties in the area surrounding your home of interest to determine if your potential new property is a price that’s reasonable for the current market.

Along the same lines, if you’re ready to put your home on the market, your agent will perform a CMA to help determine the best list price for your property.

Question for Your Agent #2. How Will You Market My Home?


Once you’ve hired a real estate agent, ask about how they plan to market and raise awareness about your home. Inquire about their social media strategy, industry contacts, and plans for open houses and private showings.

If you receive an offer on your home for sale, an unforeseen problem may be identified during a home inspection. Ask your agent how such unforeseen issues will be managed. Whether they might recommend that you make home repairs, or other concessions to a potential buyer.

So, if you find a home you love and an inspection reveals that it has issues, your agent may recommend asking the seller to make some concessions as a compromise.

A concession can mean that the homeowner agrees to pay to fix certain problems revealed during the home inspection. Or a concession could come in the form of the seller paying for a year on a home warranty.
